How is the record zeroed out on the hard drive after it's destroyed with Records Management?

We had a client ask how many time the record is overwritten to zero out the hard drive after it's destroyed in Records Management.  I couldn't find anything in the documentation, but how many times is it?

Secure deletions are not specific to records management, they apply to all deletions. The number of overwrite passes is configurable.

Are there any white papers on the secure deletion?
