Forms 10.3 Assign Task button makes form read-only

asked on April 4, 2018 Show version history

We upgraded to Forms 10.3 recently. Our users look in the Unassigned Tasks tab of the Team Tasks pane to find all the possible tasks they can assign themselves. To assign one, they open it using the task link and click the Assign to Me button in the upper left. When the form opens, they can't modify any of the fields. They're all read-only. If they close the form and go to their Open Tasks and open it from there, the form is now modifiable, as expected.

This is either a bug in 10.3 or it's supposed to work this way for some reason? Has anyone seen this behavior?

Hi Shiela, if they open the task and Assign to Me using the Green button, and the forms stay as read only, right click in the task and choose reload frame in the chrome dropdown. Also, when at the task inbox, the user can just check the box on the left of the task and a little square icon will appear above the inbox (where the priority Flag, due date, etc is) that you can click on and it will assign the task to yourself. The task will move into your task queue from the team queue. Then you can open, etc.

Also, Laserfiche as released 10.3.1 on the support page. You may want to check to see if it addresses this issue you are seeing.

That's what I've been having them do. However, these are extra steps. They're used to opening a form and hitting the button to assign it to  themselves and begin working on it immediately. This can save a lot of time because the forms are sometimes so large they take awhile to load. This behavior changed from previous versions of Forms.

We'd like to have it changed back.

Hi Sheila,
Did you find any further information on this? I have a client experiencing the same issue.

Many thanks.

It's a bug. I've had to teach my users to either not use the "Assign to Me" button or to use it and reload the form, which can be done before it even fully loads the first time.

Has anyone opened a LF Support case on this issue? If so, did they say they are working on a fix?

yes. a case was opened in April or May last year, but we haven't heard anything. At that point, it was the least of our issues, so I didn't follow up.
