Question

Question

Transferring files from one volumes to another.

asked on April 4, 2018 Show version history

We have a customer who is wanting to move the folders and documents from the DEFAULT volume and transfer them to volumes named by department: Police, Finance, HR, Court, etc.

I went ahead and set the default volume based by their department name for future documents:

If I set the default volume at the parent folder, will the children folder(s) and documents inherit the same default volume for future documents?

They are on version 9.2.1.562

Hi,

Changing the default volume at the folder level will not update all the folder/documents within that folder to the new update volume.

One method to update the current documents is to search for all the documents within the 'POLICE', Etc folder (on main folder at a time) and then MIGRATE all the documents/folders therein to the new VOLUME.

Whoops sorry, for that part I meant for future documents.

I am wondering if the child folder inherits from parent folder for default volume.

You can easily create a WF to mange the VOLUME for different document/folders.  You could also make the WF a Business Process and run it on the current documents to move them into the appropriate VOLUME.
