10.3 does not allow assigning named licensing when the UseSSL switch is set to Yes

asked on March 28, 2018

When I change the UseSSL switch to "yes" (and restart the service) SSL is enabled but the box to assign named licenses is disabled.

I switch UseSSL back to  "no" and the box is enabled again after a service restart.

I can either not let the users in or force them to login with plain text passwords. I am stuck. Anyone else having trouble with 10.3?

Ok I found that as long as when you are enabling SSL you skip this step, then you can still assign licenses and the SSL connections still work even using the proper friendly name.

It appears performing this step somehow initiates the "Require SSL" switch but breaks a fundamental licensing configuration. It would be nice to have a "Require SSL" switch but from my understanding this was not a feature in Laserfiche and if this is how you do it, it doesn't appear to work.

  • Create a REG_SZ value at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\IPDatabase\<repository> and give it the string value of the FQDN of your server.
