Did you clear the Generate pages when importing PDFs box in the web client's options? (Click on your username in the top right and select Options, then New Document.)

You can also disable page generation on a case-by-case basis on import by unchecking generate pages under advanced options:

Hi Justin,  Thanks for your suggestion.

We would like to set as default for this case to all user by admin level and don't allow user to enable generate pages/text when they importing by LF MS Outlook plug-in.

This will not be case-by-case situation.

Thanks Leif Hancox-Li for your help.

We did try as your suggestion that work for normal process to import but still keep generate page when we using importing or drag and drop on MS Outlook.

It seems LF MS Outlook plug-in doesn't apply disable generate page with PDF.  We still find the way to work with LF MS Outlook plug-in.  MS Office Professinal Plus 2016

This issue result to take over 3 minutes PDF file size 10M to import to Laserfiche.  Although LF didn't generate page.

The option Generate Pages is used to control whether or not to generate Laserfiche images from pdf pages. If your pdf has text streams, even though you don't give the option Generate Pages, LF pages are still generated for the text. The screenshot is a sample (Metadata -> Show advanced -> calculate sizes) of a pdf entry that has pages for text. Please have a check for the entry you have pdf imported. If the image size is 0, then the Generate Pages options took effect. If you don't want Laserfiche pages at all, then you should not check the Generate Text option as well as the Generate Pages in this case.

To add to this comment, in the options (my first screenshot above) you can make sure that Generate searchable text when importing documents and Automatically extract text when saving documents from Microsoft Office are not selected. These take care of generating text, whereas Generate pages when importing PDFs only deals with image pages. If you want all three options to be unselected for all users as a default, follow these instructions for changing trustee attributes (the second link also contains instructions for how to lock down a user's settings so they can't change it). Set the following attributes to "No" on the Everyone group:

  • [OfficePlugin]TextExtraction
  • [Settings]EnableEDocTextExtract
  • [Settings]ImportPDFPages

The following screenshot shows how these settings should look like in the web client management page for what you want:

I believe changing Everyone group attributes only affects users created after the change. You'd have to apply these attributes directly to any pre-existing users. Not sure of the usefulness of my reply, 3 years later.

We did work around for customer.  By the way, customer already migrate to Google suite that no longer to use MS Plug-in that we are waiting LF to launch new version to support Google suite.
