Question

Connector Profile Icon Groupings?

asked on March 14, 2018

When you create different profiles using Connector and display the icon on the application, I have noticed that it displays an icon for searching and another which groups scanning and importing together. If you were to create a profile for each type of action available, how many different icon groups would you see in an application?

Hi Blake,

Any profile can be split out into it's own icon or grouped together, even ones of the same type. Try right-clicking on the profile buttons and see if the option to split is there (If not, the profiles might be setup to not allow users to move them around, which can be tweaked in the profile xml).

@████████,

If you have the option to not allow users to move them around checked, what are the default groupings? (v10.3)

It will use either the first or last profile that it loads on that page. I don't offhand remember which. I believe that's alphabetical based on the profile name.

It would be nice to be able to group profiles at the administrators discretion by pushing out an XML that controls the overall design.  I currently have a customer that is using it for Accounts Payable pushed out to 200+ users across 80+ remote locations and they want one icon (with a custom image) to have all profiles related to PO's, another for Invoices, and another for Other Docs.  This would make it quicker to run their search (the default for the associated profile group), show the count automatically for all 3 types when they go to the page, and run one of the 3+ scan/import profiles built for each type.  All of these profiles (10+) now are shown under a single icon since the grouping does not appear to be available like this.  Any plan to allow more control for administrators over the appearance and grouping of profiles as that would might also assist in Blake's issue.

Yes, you can totally do this. When you define the profiles, you can indicate where the icons are located and whether users are able to move them. Icons that are in the same location will be grouped together. If you do not indicate this information in the profiles, it will just default to the one toolbar location.

Added: You cannot, however, push out a 'style sheet' for them. It needs to be in the original profile definitions.

Justin,

Thanks, that is exactly what we need.  Previously if we moved it around the end user had the ability to move it which caused them to not line up.  Now that we can define location but limit their ability to move them that resolves the issue.  I appreciate the help.
