Question

Routing Decision - if PDF or electronic doc exists - even if you generated Laserfiche pages run this branch

asked on March 12, 2018

I am wanting to use a routing decision to run one branch if the document includes an electronic document , say if I have a document that was a pdf but also has Laserfiche pages, I would like to process it differently than a tiff image only.

Is there any way to do this with a standard workflow function?

thanks

Another way to do this would be the "Has Electronic Document" property in a Find Entry activity.

There's an option for the document's extension in the "Document" category of conditions in Conditional Decision.

Thanks Miruna,

I looked at that, so basically you will need to know the file extension of the file type you want to segregate, correct?

So condition is like this,

Document : Extension  - equals - PDF (or File extension of the electronic doc)

Then Run this branch.

I'll try that and see what happens.

Again thanks for the quick response.

That's correct. The existence of an extension indicates the document has an electronic component, so if you want to excluded all e-docs, that's possible too.

Great,

How would I Exclude all edocs using condition?

Thanks again!

Miruna, Not sure why this is not working but when the Workflow runs no branch conditions are met.

Again I have documents in LF and I want to run a business Process on these,

if PDF run branch 1,

if TIF run Branch 2.

I used your suggestion as to conditions

if documents extension equals PDF ran branch 1  etc.

even though I have pdfs branch 1 says value brought back "Empty" (so condition not met)

I am adding a screen clip to show condition and value actually found.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks for your kind attention.

Does the document display an extension if you look at its properties in the Laserfiche Client?

Hi Miruna,

Thanks for the response.

My workflow creates a copy of a document that has "Extension" pdf

Then the Routing decision is working with the Copy.

So since the copy is only temporary and gets deleted as part of the workflow. I cannot check it's property. However the original document that was copied is a pdf.

As you see from my screen shot of running workflow the routing evaluator shows "none" for the extension.

John idea below worked for me so for now my problem is solved.

But I still do not understand why result from routing evaluator was none.

Thanks again for all your help.
