Multiple Value Fields Don’t Inherit Parent Metadata Information

asked on March 8, 2018

Can folders and documents inherit the parent metadata from a multiple value field?  A single value field will inherit from the parent, but the multiple value field will not.  Pressing the Tokens button and adding %Parent in the TestFolder2 metadata, will not populate the data.

I created a folder called TestFolder1, assigned the _TestMultipleValues template, filled in the metadata, and then created TestFolder2.  I assigned the same template and added the %Parent token to more than one line in the field _MultipleValues.  TestFolder2 does not inherit the parent folder data for the multiple value field but does inherit it from the single value field.

Tested on Laserfiche 10.2.1 and 10.1.

Laserfiche has confirmed this a bug.  It will be addressed in version 10.4.

I had a coworker mention that they were experiencing this exact issue, and I was able to reproduce it, however we upgraded to Laserfiche 10.4.1 back in July.

Do you know if there might be any plans for a hotfix in the near future to address this?

I don't see anything in the List of Changes for 10.4 or 10.4.1 that might address this issue.  Laserfiche indicated this bug was TFS 77885.  Contact your VAR to have them open a support case.

Sounds good, we'll try that route then - thanks!
