Dear all,
I think I have been been reading different and confusing responses on the question of compatibility of LF 9 products with LF 10 ones. This is so confusing that at the moment we have a very sensitive upgrade to undertake but we are not sure of the consequences.
The client has a big installation of 500 users. This is a heavy user of laserfiche and cannot afford down time. They are currently on LF 9.1.1 server with License Manager and they want to upgrade to the current version 10.3. The new version will be installed onto completely new servers and so the upgrade will not be directly onto the old server.
The challenge is there should be no down-time. I was planning to begin with the Directory server which would require me to disconnect the License manager, then connect the old servers to DS. After which I would install the new LF 10.3 servers onto the new servers and connect them to the DS 10.3.
At this point I will be having both the new LF servers 10.3 and the old servers 9.3 connected to the new DS 10.3. This would then make it easier to migrate the repository and from the old and new servers without users losing connection although at some point there would be a few hours where they wouldn't connect.
But as per the release notes for 10.3, they are not compatible in the sense that LF 9 users will not be able to enjoy SSO with DS 10.3 (Correct me if am wrong) and as such by installing the DS 10 first would render the users disconnected for a number of days since they all utilize single sign on.
What options do I have to make this transition smooth?
Mark
