Question

Question

Create links in a Forms document from Workflow.

asked on March 4, 2018

Hey everyone,

What I'm hoping to be able to accomplish is at the workflow level. For each time that a document is created within a specific case file, we want workflow to create a hyperlink to that document, and have a Form created which shows this hyperlink and stores it, along with others, as a PDF or TIFF document in the repository. Then, users could click to whichever link is needed to access their file in question. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan

The short answer is Yes, in workflow you can use the GenerateWebURL activity to generate a hyperlink to the file. To push the URL to a LF Form, you would use the Invoke Business Process and choose the form you want to start, and pass the variable to a single line variable in the form. For the link to appear as a hyperlink in the form, you will need to then create a Custom HTML field where the would specify a URL using the Single Line field as the token.

Thank you Steve! I look forward to trying this out when the opportunity permits. Have a few other deadlines to hit prior to being able to mess with this one again... appreciate it, and I'll mark it as the answer when I get it working and when I no longer need to ask for further assistance from you!
