LFS 10.3 slow responsiveness

asked on February 27, 2018

Is anyone else seeing a real drop in responsiveness since upgrading to LF 10.3?  I have several customers that are reporting continuously that they are having issues with the browsing and searching being excessively slow since upgrading the servers to 10.3.  They are seeing this in both the Windows client and WebLink.

I have seen it take over 10 seconds to load the content of a folder with less than 10 entries in it.  And when you are trying to move around in the repository, this lag adds a lot of time to their work over the coarse of the day.

Hi Bert,

Are you seeing any spikes in memory or CPU on either SQL or the LF app server?

We have a few customers running 10.3 now and haven't noticed anything in particular around performance. Will keep an eye out though. yes

The system with the most complaints is a large system with services split out on separate machines.  This was working very well on version 10.2.

Box A - LFDS and WebLink

Box B - LFS

Box C - LFFTS

Box D - Workflow

Box E - SQL

Each box is a VM running Windows Server 2012 R2 with 2 Virtual Processors (6 total cores) and 64 GB RAM.

Hi Bert, we have the same symptom here windows 2016, 4 cores, 8 ram... with IE 11 super slow, chrome a little bit better but still we have reports from the users. With weblink version 9 no reports of any kind.

Please if you have any further details about the solution we apreciate your help.

Thanks.

Not sure why, but we found that clearing the user attributes helped.

Hi All,

We have issue with 10.3 installed on Server 2016. ASP .net 4.6 and .net 4.6 installed.

The LF Web login takes 30 seconds. The Client login to LFS is take about the same 30 seconds and we did a debug for IIS and Microsoft states that issue is on LF side. We also confirm that this is not the network issue or reverse proxy  (DNS) issue or slow hardware. Please help and advise.

Thank you,

D.

Hi, for our problem the answer from support...

This is a bug (reference ID 80221) where WebLink doesn't bundle or minify any of its resources when loading them. Since there are quite a few of them, it manifests as a performance problem. If you were to open the developer tools pane in a browser (F12) and view the network requests, you can see that there are a lot of JavaScript and CSS resources being loaded.

The bug has been linked to this case and is targeted for an upcoming WebLink 10 update 1 release. You should get a notification in the case notes when this is available.

It was not solved in the recent update 1 patch for web link as far as i know so we are waiting for the next one but by now the customer is using chrome that has much better performance.

We're experiencing crashing when OCR-ing with the full client.  It happens anywhere from 1 - many times before it starts behaving.  If we downgrade the client back down to 10.2, it's fine.

Hi Erika,

Did you intend for this to be a new thread?

Can you talk with your reseller about opening a case with Laserfiche Support. We should be able to get a clearer idea of what might be going on by looking at the crash dump information.
