I am looking for a way to support Office File Linking and Embedding and other External access to Laserfiche File requirements.

Currently WebDAV is being used but has it's known draw backs.

When I saw CMIS I thought this may be a solution that could be used to replace WebDAV but there does not seem to be native Windows Explorer SMB/CIFS Support. 

I have seen some talk about CMISSync and perhaps SAMBA may support.

Any suggestions or alternatives to WebDAV that are available as of yet?

Is file linking and embedding supported using Office Online / Microsoft Web Apps integration with the Web Client?
