Question

Add "other" choice to dropdown list in Forms 10.3

asked on February 20, 2018

Hi,

Is it possible to have an "other" choice, in which the user could type, in a dropdown in Forms 10.3?

It's there with checkboxes, but checkboxes would not be a good fit for this customer, as it would make for a longer form, as well as allow the possibility for more than one choice.

My hunch is that it will be a JavaScript, but I've not yet found what it may be.

Thanks!

Hi Ken,

You could always have a hidden single line field below the drop down. In the drop down give an "Other" option and if this is selected, show the hidden field to input the value via field rules.

Aaron

Thanks, Aaron,

I think we have found another way to make this work, at least in this case.

The customer is going to use a barcode scan with the LF Mobile App on their iPhones, as the 2 fields we need have barcodes.

There is also the method of using database lookups in the form, along with dynamic fields, but unfortunately the customer only has Forms Essentials, and not Professional, so some of that ability is lacking.
