Question

Weblink 10 Public User

asked on February 19, 2018 Show version history

I have switch over to Weblink 10 and set up it up to automatically log in using Laserfiche credentials.  I set the user to the same public user that I was using for Weblink 9.  The user is marked as "read-only" in the admin console.  However, I get the following error when trying to access Weblink:

"Sign in failed because the number of sessions has reached the licensed limit, or the user account has reached its session limit, or no named user license has been allocated to the user account. [9030]"

Is there another place that I need to configure this user to be used with Weblink 10?

Hi Jen. I had same issue and to solve, in Web Designer, under the attached repository 'Connection'  that you have auto login for Laserfiche users, set up your 'public' user with password. On the last section 'Public', you actually have to user with 'Manage Trustees' privilege for the first time you are validating it and you will see your 'public' user then appear,

It's confusing I know and I have suggested that documentation and admin files are updated.

Hi Fearghal,

Thanks for the information.  Actually, I can validate the public user in the Designer but still can't log into Weblink.  I noticed if I grant the Public user Manage Trustees right, I can log in as the public user.  Obviously, we don't want this.

I was testing with my VAR kit and realized that it has to be a named user because the VAR kit doesn't allow public portal licensing.  It is working fine now.

Of note - the reason 'Manage Trustees' makes a difference is that the Laserfiche Server allows any user with Manage Trustees to sign in (2 max connections) in order to set up named user licensing in the first place, regardless of if that user is currently fully licensed. If you used that as your public user and didn't otherwise have public portal setup, this approach would fail at connection 3. It is not what it's intended for.

I'm having this same issue.  Weblink 10.1, RIO 10.3.1.  I've configured Weblink Connection to automatically login with a Read Only User credentials, and I've gone to the Public User table and logged in there with the Admin account.  Oddly, if I switch to prompt for LF credentials, I'm able to login with a named user, but still unable to access with the Read Only user.  In all failed cases I get the same error message as the original question.

Please advise.
