Supposed that you have a template with 50 fields. You set the template at the parent level and go one by one, setting up all fields. When you finish, you realize, "Oh! I also need to apply this template and same fields to the document level", then you go again doing all fields up to the 50.

If there was a way to say, "well, now I finished setting up the values of the fields for the parent folder. I just need to say, inherit whatever fields and values from the parent folder into the documents" essentially saving yourself 50 more times of setting fields and getting prone to errors.

Now, I saw in another post that you could do this in repository for an existing document by doing "%(Parent)", and that copies over the value from the parent folder. There is no setting for that in forms.
