Automating link to Forms Tasks in Workflow

posted on February 6, 2018

In workflow we have an option to generate links to a document, which will open the LF App and open the document. But the instructions for doing this as a forms task requires manually performing multiple steps using a workstation and chrome to create the link after the task already exists. Is there a way to generate these links automatically when the task is created so that workflow can send an email with a link to their task?

To create a URL that directly links to a Forms task

  1. Begin with lfmobileforms://FormsServerURL(do not include the last /Forms text in the FormsServerURL).
  2. Navigate to the task in Laserfiche Forms using an Internet browser, then press F12 to enter the Developer Tool view.
  3. Inside the HTML iframe title tag, double-click the text that begins with /Forms/form and a block of text will be highlighted for you. Copy it.

  4. Paste the copied text into the URL after lfmobileforms://FormsServerURL.

Hi Chad

So basically this will allow you to do what exactly? If I read this correct, you are trying to email/simply use a forms instance as a token, right?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to build a hyperlink, or link that I can email out to clients when they are being quoted from LF. The link must allow them to Accept, or Reject a quote.

Depending on their decision, I want to automate task acceptance or rejection of the relevant task.

I was just trying to get a link that would open their task in the LF App instead of Chrome.

You might want to use the Direct Approval option. They can select an action by responding to the email.

I'm trying to set this up.

I have direct approval enabled on the user task, but what now?

I'm trying to email my recipients of a quote "Accept", "Reject" options, but I am unsuccessful.

I see that the function only allows approval in a window for LF users, not external recipients.

Or am I mistaken?
