Question

Is there a way to delete only even pages of a document

asked on February 5, 2018

I have a 10,000 page file. Is there a way to automate deleting just even pages - possibly in Quickfields? THanks.

Hi Carol,

For clarification, are you trying to delete pages from the document stored in the repository or just delete the generated page image?

Yes the document is in a repository.

So your best bet is to reprocess the documents using Quick Fields (QF). Utilize First Page Identification to separate the document, then go to Document Merging in Document Class Options to merge the documents you want together.

For the pages you want deleted. You can either delete them in QF manually  after the scanning session or store them in a folder the repository and have Workflow delete them. Hope this helps!

I am guessing that your documents are single sided but were scanned duplex and did not remove blanks and now you want to automate blank page removal.  If this is your situation, then Quick Fields is probably the best tool for the job.

It was downloaded from a website as a pdf. The employee then used drag and drop into the repository. This is a file of 1095c (affordable care act) records. The second page is an instruction sheet that is not needed. She just needs the 1st page and she wants it to stay as 1 file.  Thanks for your reply.

Hello again Carol. If you still need help, see below.

In QuickFields:

Create a document class, Change the Document Class Options to make the documents merge and append, in the Last Page Identification task Limit documents to 2 pages, add a Page Removal task to the Post-Processing task set it to remove Page 2.

This will separate the document into multiple 2 page documents then delete the second page of those documents. The documents are then merged into one when stored. smiley
