Question

Laserfiche Email Attachment Issues

asked on February 5, 2018

I was wondering if anybody has experienced this problem previously and had any solution to the issue.

  1. A User receives a Word Document by Email with as an attachment
  2. User then proceeds to make changes inside the word document
  3. Saves as a new document in Laserfiche
  4. Closes Word

When the user opens up the saved version in Laserfiche the changes that were made in step 2 have not been applied before saving.

It is like they are working on a temporary copy and none of the changes have been applied.

It saves the original copy of the Attachment.

Hi Anthony,

Do you use the add-on Laserfiche on Word to save it ?

Do you already have a file's docx in Laserfiche with the same name? If yes, did you :

1. Add a new file with a new name,

2. Add a new version,

3. Overwrite the old file.

There is no naming conflicts as the attachment is uniquely named.

Yes the customer is using the ribbon in outlook to save the email.

They save the attachments in the email also.

They locate the Email open the Attachments and commit the changes using the Laserfiche ribbon (Which to my understanding should save the changes in the Attachments as they are saved in Laserfiche).

They then close Laserfiche and Leave for the day, when they return the changes that they saved have not been applied, and the original Attachment is the only version/copy of that file.

This isn't the first time that this has happened.

It would seem that the connection to Laserfiche is dropped at the point of opening an Email Attachment say word doc, and then any subsequent changes look like they are being applied, but are not.

As if you open the Document which is saved in Laserfiche and not from the email attachment it is saving the changes and the connection to Laserfiche stays present.
