Question

Can This Be Done Without Add-ons?

asked on February 1, 2018 Show version history

Hello,

I have a client that would like to use Quick Fields to separate a single .pdf that contains several multi page documents (of varying length), into separate .tiff files of each individual form. Cover sheet contains a barcode that allows for the document class identification. The only issue I am having is that the only add-on that the client has is the barcode add-on, and they would like to keep it that way.

Normally, I would suggest zone OCR for this type of first page identification, but they are pretty insistent on not purchasing any addition add-ons. I considered using full page OCR and then using a regular expression to pick up the forms header, but they don't have the text extraction process either.

Any suggestions? Or will they have to bite the bullet and purchase an add-on?

I have attached a copy of the form they are looking to identify.

Thank you!

Hi Aaron,

Not a 100% sure what you are after here?

However, if you just need to separate the individual pages of the tiff/pdf then you could do that with Workflow. You could use DCC to do the OCR process within the Workflow too. I have done quite a few separation workflows based on document headers or any static word/ phrase.

Happy to help but I will need more information on the process required.

Hi Johnathan,

Thanks for the reply. Will workflow be able to account for varying page lengths? The only actions I can think of to do this require a page range to extract.

Thanks again.

Quick Fields without any add-ons can only use full page OCR for identification. You wouldn't even have regular expressions to narrow down your hits.
