Question

Migrating the search server

asked on January 31, 2018

I need information on how to move the search server/functionality off of the Laserfiche server to a standalone box. I have followed everything I have found so far on Answers to help reduce searching issues for a customer with over 1.7 million documents and is often looking for two different fields within the same template and for 20-25 results can some times take up to 60 seconds.

I feel like i'm up to the point to move the searching server to its own box. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to accomplish this?

I don't get it, you talk about searching by field with templates.

Search using field do not use search engine, it looks directly in the database by using query search in the database

the search engine it is only to search by the content of the document and sometimes if you have set it like that for fields that you have enamble the check box indexing. (for field with long text in it)

If your search is long by using fileds, well it is maybe more a database productivity issue.

or it is maybe when you do a search you do it by using a common search that search, in context text, fileds, annotation and file name.

Do you have documentation that shows what search functions go directly to SQL as a queries and which search functions go through the search server? Also what about search syntax if that is all you are using. Does that go directly to SQL?

Rene, that's not correct. The search engine can index fields, but by default it does not.

Brian, see the help file.

Miruna, it was what I mean, the search can do but as you said it is not set like that by default.

I means maybe the issue of is long search result could maybe due to an SQL querry serach and not cause by the search engine, because he taled about field and Template.

if they set those field they search on with the indexing filed, yes at theat time the search engine will be use to do the search.

but we missing some information about how he search exactly and if those fields are indexed or not.

Brian could you do a screen shot of the way you do you search and take a long time to get result
