how to scan 1/2 sheets with out black filling in the rest of a full sheet

When we scan a 1/2 sheet form the bottom of the scan is blacked out.  It didn't use to do this.  Why is it doing it now?  It it filling it in like a whole letter size paper. 

Thank you for any suggestions on what to check.

Hi Shawn,

 

Are you scanning the page using Laserfiche scanning?

Try a paper size setting of A5

Yes it is scanning with Laserfiche.  I will try that one.  Thank you.
