Question

TextProvider process terminated when attempting to extract text from excel document

asked on January 18, 2018

Hi Team,

I am seeing this quite often in a search catalog, and was wondering what would be the reason for this? Has anyone seen this?

Error:

--

The TextProvider process was terminated due to an unhandled exception when extracting text from a "xlsx" document. Search catalog: AdvivoRepository. Entry ID: xxxxxx. This is usually caused by a problematic IFilter or a corrupted document. Please install a proper IFilter and see if it solves the problem. You can also skip the problematic type of electronic documents by modifying the BlockedExtensions list in registry.

It has also happened on a few PDF / XLSM / files? This is then causing the Index in Administration Console to go into an unknown state? Which then also changes the search catalog to read-only?

Please advise?

Thanks

Ziad

It won't cause the index to unknown state or cause the search catalog to read-only. If your only issue is that the catalog is read-only, you may ignore these messages.

Thank you Cangfei,

But, when the index goes into unknown state, it is not indexing any documents in the Repository?

Thank you

For the issue that search catalog to read-only, I see your another post(https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/134494/Search-Catalog-Error-9491#134726). We will follow the issue in that post.

For the message "The TextProvider process was terminated due to an unhandled exception...", it means TextProvider failed to extract text from this document and the document won't be searchable in LFFTS. Other documents are not affected.
