Question

collection forms error required field

asked on January 18, 2018

I have a form with a collection, and am getting the error if you hit add  and enter data int he second collection. In each collection the fields only appear depends on the choices. Now sure why I am getting this error and the form is not saving.

Hi Laura,

The errors you saw were from backend validation.

For the fields mentioned in the error, were they required fields? If you were hiding these fields with field rules, did you choose the "Save the data" option?

If so, then backend validation requires the hidden field to be filled, since these data will be saved. The workaround is to choose "Ignore the data" option on field rule, or turn off the backend validation on form setting, or just set a default value on the required field.

I have ignore data set, see attached.

If i choose Job related on multiple collections, all is good. If i choose office expense on all collections, all is good. If I only have 1 item, and do not click add on the collection, all is good.

If i choose one of each, no matter which order I do first, I get the error.

Hi Laura,

I have confirmed that this is a bug in Forms current versions (10.2.1, 10.3.0); it should be fixed in next release, sorry for the inconvenience.

A workaround for now is to disable the backend validation.

This issue that will show backend validation error on required fields inside collection when there are field rules showing different fields in different rows has been fixed at Forms 10.3.1, and you can download newest package at https://support.laserfiche.com/news/3882/laserfiche-10-3-1-released.

It gets errors "This value does not belong to the list of choices", which is different from the issue in this post.

Have you configured the lookup rules for the form recently? can you file a support ticket and provide us one test process for troubleshooting later?
