Question

Looking for a Project Management administrative policy

asked on January 17, 2018

We are finding that a lack of policy is impeding the time and efficiency of our new Laserfiche projects. We will be starting the process of creating a new project management admin policy. Some of the features of this policy will include vetting of a project, whether it qualifies for a Lean overhaul, where a Kaizen session is needed, etc.

Has anyone paved the way already on this?

Thanks!!

Hey Chris:

Your request is right in line with what the Town of Okotoks presented on this year at Empower 2018!

In the past couple of years, we have created a process of dealing with organizing and prioritizing Business Processes within a municipality, and we have broken it into three related processes:

1) Registering the Business Process
2) Business Process Re-Engineering (Lean Workshop)
3) Publishing the Business Process

The ultimate goal here is to have a central repository of processes within our municipality, and from there assign each of these processes to specific roles or teams within the organization (which ties directly to our organizational chart).  Processes can then be prioritized, and based on this, we can look into mapping the process, and looking for efficiencies, bottlenecks, sources of redundancy (within this process or between processes), etc.

If you want to reach out, feel free to message me here, or contact me directly; as well, the presentation slides should be available with the rest of the Empower 2018 presentations shortly. :)

Hi Marty!

Long time no see! I peeked at your Town website and I think it was broken, it said the temperature was 0. Weird.

Congrats on the presentation! I am not sure how to message on the forum here. I would love to get a copy of any documents you might have such as the policy, etc.

If you still have an email address for me, it has probably changed. I am now ccartrett at myboca.us. I changed employers (thank God).

Glad to hear you are making history in the realm of Laserfiche :)

Chris

PS, what was the name of your session?

Nevermind, found it:

I would be interested in seeing any policies, as well.  And in seeing Okotoks' Empower 2018 presentation.  Is there a link available?
