Question

Laserfiche Executive

asked on January 10, 2018

We took over a client that has Laserfiche Executive.  We have never sold this model and frankly I am not even sure what it is.  I assume its just a small Laserfiche system.  They want to move Laserfiche (all components) from one machine to another but move the database and images to a NAS.  The NAS will appear as a mapped drive to the new machine.  I know how to do all this but is there any limitations with Laserfiche Executive?  I assume SQL Express and the volume paths and such are no different with this model?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Laserfiche Executive is an edition of a 'standalone' system. This edition contains all the same functionality, but is limited to only accessing the system from the machine where the Server is installed. Basically, it lacks the ability to connect over a network. I don't believe there should be any issues with the changes you described.

I was searching for some information regarding LF Executive and I stumbled across this post.  I thought that Executive had some limitations regarding number of documents, or db size.  Is that correct?  I can't find any info on the Support Site or the VAR Site regarding Executive.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

There are a few editions of the 'Standlone' Laserfiche setup. Executive doesn't have any specific internal limitations besides specifically being a SQLExpress environment and the whole 'no external connections' aspect of Standalone. There isn't much information on them because they are more legacy setups - having a system that doesn't allow remote connections was more relevant in the past but is not that common of a need these days.

Thanks Justin, we have a few customers with legacy Executive and/or Standalone systems, so I was just trying to understand what limits they might have.
