Question

Can a read-only user have the read and write metadata access rights on specific documents?

asked on December 27, 2017 Show version history

Hello all,

I have a pool of users who belongs to a LFDS group and this group has only the browse and read entry access rights. Also, the access rights are being applied to only documents found in a specific folder. Suppose that a user from this group should have the read and write metadata access rights on document 'B', document 'C'. Is there a way in LF to handle such exception where a read-only user can have the read and write metadata access rights on specific documents found within that same folder?

HI Sheila,

Between the topic subject and this sentance "I have a pool of users who belongs to a LFDS group and this group has only the browse and read entry access rights." It's not clear to me if the users have read-only licenses, or have full-licenses with read-only security applied. Could you clarify please?

Hi Ben,

The users have a full license with read-only access rights applied on folders. Suppose the users require 'read and write metadata' to specific documents. How to manage this exception?

Thanks to advise.

Hi Sheila,

I would create a workflow to set the security of documents, based on Document Type, and/or some other metadata. The workflow would run on Create and Change.
