Usually with MS Office templates, when you double-click on it, it opens a new document so that the original template isn't affected (as demonstrated here when the standard action becomes "new" rather than "open" as it usually is):

In Laserfiche, however, it doesn't seem to recognize that the document is a template, and just opens the original. I know there are other ways around this: saving as a new document, checking out the original so anyone else will only open a "read-only" copy, etc. However, this isn't ideal.

My question is this: is this feature on the roadmap for LF? If not, what is the best practice alternative?
