Question

Moving Participants from Forms to LFDS

asked on December 18, 2017

We have a customer who currently has 200+ LDAP Participants with over 200 current processes assigned to these users. We have upgraded to the newest version of Forms and want to take advantage of the SSO and using LFDS to log into Forms.

We went through the process mapped out by the KB article https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1013710/enabling-laserfiche-directory-server-user-authentication-in-forms-10-when-upgrading-from-laserfiche-forms-9.

We have run mutliple tests with no success in migrating the participants to LFDS and keeping the processes active (they become orphaned and can no longer be approved).

Is there a suggested process to get the users migrated and keep the process that are currently assigned LDAP accounts to the new users from LFDS?

Thanks in advance

Steven

Hi Steven,

I have tried this on Forms 10.2.1.246 and moving Forms LDAP participants to LFDS LDAP participants:

  1. Configure LDAP profile on Forms and assign user tasks to the Forms LDAP users;
  2. Add same user as LFDS LDAP user and assign Forms participant license;
  3. Switch Forms from LFS to LFDS;
  4. Login with admin account, and confirm user synchronization is done;
  5. Login with LFDS LDAP user (the login user name is like username@LDAP_profile_name), the tasks could show in inbox and user can approve the user tasks.

Can you check if your process is same as above? Make sure that users added to LFDS are LDAP users, not Windows AD users. The SIDs of LDAP users and AD users are different.

We have not added the users as LDAP accounts in the hope to move them to use AD accounts moving forward.

If the above process has been tested we will definitely give this process a shot. If the above is successful, my next question would be is there any plans to have the ability to move these LDAP accounts to AD accounts?

Thanks,

Steven

Hi Steven,

I have added a feature request for moving LDAP accounts to AD accounts; we will consider this in future release.

Can we get a confirmation that process above will keep users active processes available to LDAP users moved to LFDS.

The customer would like to verify if possible before moving forward.

Thanks in advance

In the previous post I have verified that LFDS LDAP users could view and perform tasks assigned to Forms LDAP participants.

Is there anything else that you need to confirm? Does the process above work in your environment?

We are currently in the process of rescheduling the move to LFDS.

Does the users history stay with them (Process that involved them, etc...)

THanks

User history would be inherited as well. Basically they are the same user.
