Question

Quick Fields Agent Firing Before Scanning has completed

asked on November 28, 2017

Hi all,

I've heard reports from people usiing Quick Fields and QF Agent (8 or 9) that the agent will trigger Quick Fields run and attempt to import documents from Laserfiche that are still being scanned in. I presume that means the QF was attempting to pul in a locked document but can't be sure. Either way, it caused processing problems.

I'd like to know if:

  1. You have seen this problem.
  2. This problem was sill an issue with QF9 or QF10.

Because the Agent runs on a schedule, this does present a challenge. Technically, the document isn't in Laserfiche until it is stored because the images save to a local directory until stored, but with some larger documents there is the chance that Quick Fields may run as the document is being stored.

In the past, this has generated errors for us in QF, but it never caused any real issues. However, to avoid the problem I created a workflow that transfers scanned documents to a different folder as soon as they are stored; this way QF never has access to an "incomplete" document.

The process I use is something like this:

  1. Users scan into Folder A
  2. Workflow Rule - Entry Created in Folder A
    • Move document to Folder B
  3. Quick Fields
    • Sweep Folder B

Hi Jason,

Yes, I was using that fix previously. I was hoping it had been sorted by now.
