Hello, I have some electronic documents for which we need to generate pages. A pretty simple task, but, for some reason, one of my users is unable to generate pages (the option is greyed out) for any entry. I know we can't right click>generate pages for .TIFFs, but what controls whether a person has rights to generate pages generally? This user has identical access to myself, with the exception of 'record management' and 'manage security', the user's are turned off. Has anyone else come across an electronic file where individual users are unable to generate pages for them? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Yes, make sure the Snapshot component has been installed on the first machine. That's used to generate pages from non-PDF electronic documents. It's part of the main Windows Client installation package.

Check the 'process' feature right on the user.
Thanks for the reply, Justin. It is indeed checked, same as my rights.
Well, even more interesting, is, now, the user can generate pages. Only change is the computer she was using. Is there an install component that may affect page generation?

Hats off, that is the issue! Thanks!
John-Paul, was your client using the desktop client or the web client?
Justin, can you elaborate on the use of Snapshot on the local machine in the generate pages process, specifically as it relates to web client use? We only have a handful of desktop client users and most of our team members use the web client. I'm still trying to make sure I have my configuration set so that when they save documents (Word and Excel) to the repository that they generate text and pages for them. I'm seeing several that do not have this and realized that I needed to set the Process feature right, but am still not seeing pages.
Hi Michelle, we are on the desktop client. Good luck!
The Snapshot functionality is not currently available in the web client. You can generate pages for PDFs but not for other electronic file types.
Justin, I had a feeling that was the case. I have a different use case and will open another Answers thread. If you could take a look at that, I am hopeful that maybe there is a way to accomplish what I'm looking for. Thank you.
