Steps to migrate Laserfiche Directory Server from one server to another?

asked on November 8, 2017

What are the steps for migrating Laserfiche Directory Server (LFDS) from one server to another?

This is what I have. Am I missing anything:

  1. Detach Licensing Site
  2. Deactivate License

On new machine:

  1. Specify SQL Server and database and site info.
  2. Select Attach Site [instead of create site]
  3. Activate License.
  4. Regenerate licenses for various Laserfiche Components [Server, Forms, Web Client, etc]

hi Karim,

Did you run into any issues using the above approach? We are planning a similar migration and need to move LFDS to a new server.

I'm comfortable with the steps to be taken except for one. The current version of Workflow does not have specific licx file, but it is activated against LFDS. So the question I have is how to handle the re-activation once LFDS is on the new server?

Workflow 8.3 and higher does not require a license in any setups involving LFDS. It considers itself licenses when it is set up to monitor an Avante or Rio repository, it has no knowledge of LFDS. So there is nothing to reconfigure in Workflow when you move LFDS.
