We're using Laserfiche Avante 9.2.0, build 343 it looks like. The LF TWAIN scanning client will crash on the second use with a Canon ImageFORMULA scanner, either the 6010 or 4010 scanner, when using the Default Scan Settings. LF Scanning will then not close, claiming I still have a scan in progress, and I can't stop it. I can only use Task Manager to force-close the LF scanning process.
The client PC runs Windows 10 LTSB release 1607, x64, up to date as of last October. I'm using Canon's current TWAIN/ISIS driver supporting Windows 10, and this works with Canon's native scanning application. It doesn't work with Windows Fax and Scan as it doesn't support WIA.
The Default Scan Settings mode displays a user interface from Canon's scanner that enables such things as orientation detection and a few other advanced features of the scanner's software. This functionality works with Canon's supplied software, and this used to work on the same version of LF Scanning on Windows 7 x64 SP1.
I'm looking for obvious things that might be different between the Win7 setup and the Win10 setup, and so far nothing stands out. We're using non-admin accounts on both, UAC is set to behave like XP did, I don't have hardware DEP enabled (but I should), and aside from the OS nothing else has changed.
It's important that the client has access to the scanner's default scanning UI because it supports features that speed up this person's work flow. While it does work without crashing when they use the Laserfiche scan settings, they really need the scanner native UI or they will threaten to quit.
I've been in contact with Canon's support people and, while they have been helpful, they can't solve this problem.
