Laserfiche Import List (.lst file) Limitations?

asked on October 23, 2017 Show version history

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is some kind of limitation on the size/number of files that an LST file can handle? We have a few LST files that keep failing silently before they complete. We've tried using the LF Client and Import Agent - but both stop at the same point.

Each LST file fails at the same position each time, but when comparing the LST files I can't see any correlation in the position at which it fails.

For example, I can't see any correlation in:

  • Number of lines read before failure
  • Number of characters read before failure
  • Number of documents imported before failure
  • File size of the LSTs

Is there something else that could be limiting the import?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

Hi Dan,

1. For these failed lst files, do they contain wildcards in their folder name ('FOLDERS(*') in the lst file?

2. What's the error message in the event log when importing lst from Import Agent failed?

3. If you update the lst file to only import the file where lst file failed, will it fail?

Thanks,

Juan,

One of our users have a similar issue but on their end, when using LF Client to import LST files, (they do not have import agent) they get prompted for every document that goes in the repository. Here is an example of their LST

Is there any way we can get rid of the notifications? we already disabled it in the tools options menu.

Sorry I forgot to update this thread after I resolved my issue. The problem for me was that some of the document/folder names in the LST file were left empty (we'd converted it to an LST from a CSV). Could it be something similar for you Paul? i.e. a required field left blank?

When you say you have disabled it in tools options - are you talking about this setting?

Cheers, Dan

Dan,

Yes. we have disabled that but then again, when importing files using LST we still get prompted with the Metadata dialogue box for every document. This is only happening on the customer side. On our test environment, we are not experiencing this issue.
