Question

a connection to the Laserfiche web client cannot be made

asked on October 18, 2017

This message comes from the Office Extension. What does it mean to connect to the Laserfiche Web Client? What service or application is oflfine that it is trying to connect to?

Upgrading the application as recommended by support in the previous post did not work for us. We are on 10.2

Hi have you had any response to this?

Getting a similar behaviour.

Just your response so far. It appears to be saving to the repository, so wouldn't it be trying to connect to the Laserfiche Service? The wording "Web Client" is out of place here.

My customer is pretty sure it is being blocked by something local, since it will be down all day and every time she re-boots the computer, it always is able to connect. As if a program is blocking it, but is slow to start. I need to have some idea of what is being blocked though, no idea what this app does other than "saves to Laserfiche".

Hi Chad,

Could you please enable logging for office integration and get the details error so that we can check it?

Where are the logging options?

We captured it in the trace logs, but it doesn't seem to give any information on what it is trying to connect to. What is a web client?

Hi Chad,

When you save messages/attachments to open folder of Web Client, office integration tries to create a connection to Web Client and upload the messages/attachments. To create a connection, Web Client sends a token to office integration for authentication through our browser extensions.

The log says "invalid connection", which indicates the token expired. Can you confirm that web client is still open and active?

Do you mean Google Chrome? I can save documents to the repository without any instances of Google Chrome open.

I have a client experiencing the same issue.

A connection to Laserfiche web client cannot be made. Refresh Laserfiche web client and try again.

Invalid Connection

   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.Operation.ComponentModel.Outlook.OutlookOpenedFolderProfile.CreateConnector()
   at Laserfiche.OfficePlugin.Operation.ComponentModel.Outlook.OutlookOperationBase.SaveMailItemsToLFThreadProc(Object obj)

On 10.2

I think this is a generic message for an inability to contact the server. We have been working with it for many years and it always seems to indicate that the network connection was down when attempting to use the feature. Nothing to do with Web Client.

we are having the same issue with a client that is on 10.4, when they try to save attachments from outlook and as long as the check box is unchecked (see Attachment) they have no issues (and that check box is greyed out when they have no chrome web access open) but if they have that box checked they get the refresh error.
