Question

Files duplicated when using "Import Agent"

asked on October 17, 2017

Hi

I am using Import Agent to migrate files from windows folder into Laserfiche Repository.  I have found that in one folder a file is copied 156 times by adding in parentheses at the end of the file name.

This happened twice on different folder imports.

The file type of the affected files are .pdf and doc

It happened after successfully importing 2000 plus files.

The replication stopped when I stopped the "Import Agent".

Any idea what's causing it.  Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks

Is your import session set up to look in Subfolders?  If you have the session set up to move the processed file into a subfolder within the main folder, and you have it set up to look in subfolders, it would keep reprocessing the same documents every time it runs.

The session looks in subfolders.  However, in the same folder where the file was duplicated other files were successfully migrated.

Hi Naveed, is there any error in the Event Viewer?

Hi Huazhen,

I found many errors in the log file.  Mostly referring to the import fail because of the file name too long.

I have to go through the log and see if I can find anything related to files being copied.  Do you have any suggestion on the wording of the error that I should be looking for.

Thanks for the help

Hi Naveed,

OK. I think you can try to configure the "Moved to" folder to a shorter path. The problem may be that, the file is not able to be moved to the processed folder after successfully imported because of the file name too long, it will be imported again and again.

I am having this exact same issue right now, but without any errors in the log. The file names aren't too long, and the ImportAgent Profile is not monitoring any sub-folders.
