Question

Is Java Script required on any Workstation accessing the Web Client?

asked on October 16, 2017 Show version history

This question relates to an Army installation.  We realized that the Server needed Java Script enabled to run the Web Client (WebAccess) configuration page.  QUESTION: does Java Script need to be enabled on the workstations accessing the Web Client?

Yes, the web client makes heavy use of javascript and browsers with javascript disabled won't be able to work.

You may be confusing Java runtime (JRE) and JavaScript.

JRE runs Java applets launched from some browsers, which is very rare. JRE should  only be installed on a PC if you have a specific requirement. Java security settings should lock down all but trusted sites.

JavaScripts runs on all browsers and is used by most web pages. Hit F12 on any page to get an xray view of the page - you will likely see lots of lines beginning <script.
