Question

TIF file compression

asked on October 5, 2017

We’re importing scanned TIF files using LF and Quickfields. When QF breaks the TIF into its component pages, we’d like the TIF files it produces to be stored in the TIFF B&W G3 file format (or a similar format) which is much smaller than the format it is using now (80-90% smaller).

Is it possible to do this? If so, how?

Thanks

Carl

Quick Fields uses TIFF Group 4 for black and white images. If your starting images are in color, then Quick Fields will default to TIFF LZW. You can change that by turning on "use JPEG compression" in Quick Fields' Options dialog.

If you need all images to be black and white, then you will need to add a Color Removal process to your sessions.
