Question

Variable Change in Parallel Gateway

asked on September 22, 2017

My form is a Design Change Request (DCR). So, in my process, a Project Engineer (PE) has the ability to Close, Void, or Revise a DCR. For Close, it goes to the Doc Control Admins (DCAs) and eventually gets processed into Laserfiche as Rev. 00. For Void, the metadata will show Void and the form will also show Void and go to DCAs for final processing as a voided Rev. 00. Both of those paths work great.

My issue is when I revise the DCR. It must go two ways: (1) Rev. 00 goes to our DCA for processing to Laserfiche, and (2) Rev. 01 goes back to the beginning of the process for re-review.

Here's what happened ... Rev. 00 was waiting for DCA processing, but no one got to it right away ... Rev. 01 started going around for re-review and finally got approved. As you can see below, the Inbox shows both as Rev. 01 when the older one should be Rev. 00, not Rev. 01:

So, it appears that when a variable changes, it will update all parallel tasks that are still active. Is that true?

Ignore this question. Because I believe the answer is YES, I changed my process. I no longer have a parallel process. I have Rev. 00 releasing first, then creating Rev. 01 to go back to PE. Would have been nice to be able to save time, but oh well! It's still faster than the paper process!!!!
