Question

What permission is needed for this?

asked on September 20, 2017

From the Laserfiche Client, a user can drag an entire document to the desktop.  But, the same user gets "Permission Denied" when opening the document in the Client and attempting to drag a single page to the desktop.

What permission or feature right needs to be granted to enable the user to drag pages to the desktop?

I just happened upon the right combination, or at least a combination that works.

I allowed entry access right "Modify Contents", and denied feature rights "Move Entry" and "Delete".   This means the user can drag and drop pages to the desktop, but not into other documents or to new documents.

The reason that granting all rights did not appear to work is because the user had not logged out and back in.  It seems you need to do this in some cases when rights are changed, but not in others.

Justin -- to answer your question, yes --the File>Export>Pages option was available to the user, but they didn't want that; they wanted drag and drop.

Glad to hear you got it. In general, 'access rights' (such as entry access rights) will take place immediately, but feature rights require you to sign out.

For example, "ADMIN", which has all entry access rights and all feature rights on a given document, can open the document, then drag and drop a page from the document to the Windows desktop.

But a Windows account, granted all entry access rights and all feature rights on the same document, cannot drag and drop a page from the document to the Windows desktop.

Scratching my head...

Hi Pete,

Can the user in question download the document through the File menu? Is this specific to drag-drop?
