Question

Anyway to move/remove Records Series Code in displayed name?

asked on September 18, 2017

I understand why it's at the beginning; however, for our needs, our users want it either invisible or at the end. This is because the numbers have no meaning to us except to the records administrator (myself) to reference retention. The numbers often confuse users when they are used to alphabetical order.

Hi Robyn,

Yes, after a record series or folder has been created you can rename it to delete or move the record series code. This will not affect your record properties (e.g. cutoff instruction/retention schedule).

Essentially just discontinue the use of the code field? I figured this would be the answer, but was hoping there was an alternative. Thanks for the answer!

Well, it turns out if you rename the record series in the Web Client, it replaces the code with the first word of your new record series name. (We're looking into this behavior.)

This makes for an interesting work-around but likely not what you're looking for.

Trying to rename a record series in the Windows Client will bring up the Record Series Properties dialog, where you have the option of removing the code altogether. You could "add" the code to the end of the record series name, but that would just be for show/your reference.

@████████If you remove the Record Series code, does it affect workflows? Meaning will I need to update any activities that pointy the record series name as it is.
