Question

Setting to force Laserfiche client login with Windows Credentials?

asked on September 15, 2017

Hello,

We have a client that is wondering if they can force the Laserfiche client to log in with windows credentials using a registry type setting (or something equivalent) that can be pushed out to all users at once, without having to update every single client machine one by one.

You can make it so the windows authentication button is checked by default.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\<YourRepository>Settings]
REG_SZ "UseWindowsAuth"="Yes"

That doesn't force windows authentication, they could uncheck the box.

You could also replace their Laserfiche icon with a new shortcut where the target looks like this.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client\LF.exe" -W -L"<YourRepository>"

We have several locations across the state of Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh office was having trouble searching for the repository, it kept timing out.

This trick solves that nicely until the network guys can figure out why the rest of the state is okay but not that site.

Erik's suggestion is good, modify the user's LF.exe shortcut to have it automatically sign in to the specified repository using windows authentication.

We have a client looking to make LF 11 Windows Auth the default option.
How should this solution be implemented in the newer versions which contain a dropdown option rather than a windows authentication button?
