Question

Updating process does not update suspended processes

asked on September 14, 2017

I am currently experiencing issues with Laserfiche Forms where if updating a forms process by clicking on edit process under the monitor section it takes me to the most updated BPM though it does not reflect the changes on the suspended form when attempting the suspended steps. I have submitted another form with the same data and it progresses through with no issues. I wanted to verify if this was intended functionality or an actual issue.

I think it really depends on the changes and the nature of the error that caused it to be suspended.

For example, I've had tasks get suspended because it couldn't save to the repository, and when I updated those settings in the BPM, it worked on retry. However, in other cases, the error might stem from variables or other things that cannot be corrected after submission.

What kind of error were you getting specifically?

I don't have the stack trace though it was related to a field on a template that was required. In the BPM we switched the variable that was being pushed into the field to another field that was filed out on the form. Doing so I still had to submit the form again.

Yea, in my experience changes to variables don't seem to be applied to in progress instances, but logic in the BPM usually does work.

If you ever run into a similar issue, I usually go to repo admin console, temporarily remove the field requirement, retry the form, then make it required again after the form process succeeds.
