I have an instance where a Workflow inadvertently created 2 slightly differently named top-level folders but identically named second level folders. If I try to drag the second level folders from one top-level folder to the other, it shows a folder name conflict and I can either rename or cancel. Is there a way to allow them to just merge the folders as I want their sub-folders and documents to all be in one without having to go through them one by one? If not, that would be a nice option as Windows and other applications allow for that.

Merge Folders Named the Same
Replies
Are all the folders below the first level generated during a workflow using tokens? If so, I would say you could do a workflow that finds all the documents in the main folder (that is named wrong) and use the move file activity to move them into the correctly named folder/subfolder structure based on metadata. Then the workflow can check all the folder in the wrongly named folder and delete them if they are empty.
Yes, that is the next option but the sub-folders of the sub folders have the same names all the way down to the docs. So my only option is to write a workflow to refile the docs into the correct folders. I was just hoping there was a way in the client to merge the folders and if not that Laserfiche would see this and add it to their to do list.
Additionally, in Workflow if you try to move a folder into another with the same name it automatically renames it. Would be nice to have the option here to merge the folders as well.
If done on the 2nd level folder, I just had success exporting the folder in a briefcase then importing into the new folder. Briefcase will ask to merge same folder names.
Good idea. I hadn't thought of the briefcase. Downside to that is that it creates new docs instead of just moving the existing docs. Thanks for the suggestions!!!
Laserfiche,
Any luck adding the option to merge folders named the same for the client and in Workflow?
Laserfiche, is this being considered as a feature?
