Question

changing the path of all fixed volumes

asked on September 8, 2017

When changing the path of the primary volume I just get a message that new fixed volumes will be created in the new path. When changing a specific fixed volume the volume files for that fixed volume are moved to the new location.

So in the case where I have dozens of fixed volumes, how do I update the path for all fixed volumes at once?

I'd recommend the following:

  1. Stop the Laserfiche Server service
  2. Backup the repository database
  3. Copy the volume files to their new location
  4. Use an SQL query to update the paths of the physical volumes in the vol table
  5. Restart the Laserfiche Server service

Normally I wouldn't recommend this unless there are many volumes that need to be managed and you have the time to make sure the proper precautions are taken before performing these manual operations.

Got it, I can use Windows copy instead and change it in the database. The feature in the admin console works great, I tested it out, it just doesn't let you select all your fixed volumes, it only selects 1 at a time. The fixed volumes are tiny fractions of the actual volume, seems like they should all stick together in most scenarios.
