Question

Bypassing the "Assign to Me" setting of a User Task when a team only has 1 person

asked on August 31, 2017 Show version history

Good afternoon,

I'm using a workflow to dynamically assign a User Task to different teams. In our case we have a parallel branch of three vines. Each vine has an "invoke business process" Activity that assigns a task to a team. Teams are different from the other vines.

Problem is that in some vines there is a team with 1 person. When the team (1 person in this case) gets the email notification, she still has to open the task and assign the task to herself. Is there a way to make it auto-assign to that person if she is the only one in that team?

In forms we are using the "A team based on variables" setting to get each team sent by a parameter from workflow.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

Raul Gonzalez

Hi Raul,

For assigning tasks to a single person on a team, would it not be better just to assign it directly to that person? You could have two similar user task processes, with the only difference being how task assignments are handled:

Yes: Workflow invokes parameter indicating that the team only has one member, assign it to that one member

No: Workflow invokes parameter indicating that the team has multiple members, assign it to a team based on variables

Tri, that sounds like a more reasonable solution for now. I guess we'll have to do that and not overthink it.

Thanks Tri.
