Question

authentication failure after unplanned server shutdown

asked on August 28, 2017

We experienced a power outage over the weekend which caused all of our servers to shut down improperly.  Everything was powered back up the next day.  We discovered this morning that no one can log in to the Laserfiche system.  We use Windows Authentication.  The Laserfiche and DNC servers are running and have been rebooted several times in an attempt to correct the issue.  We also attempted stopping/restarting the Authentication services, and rebooting PCs, but have had no luck.  No other systems are having issues.  And we are also unable to login to the Admin Console - same error.  The error message is attached.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

It ended up being an issue with the Hardware Fingerprints changing, likely because the NIC recreated itself on the Virtual Machine.  It was resolved by re-registering the application instances and saving new license files.

We had this error after what we suspected was an odd shutdown sequence between AD controllers and the Laserfiche servers. Stopping the Laserfiche Service, restarting the Laserfiche Authentication Service, and Starting the Laserfiche Service resolved the issue.

Thanks for the response.  When you say "Stopping the Laserfiche Service," are you referring to the "Laserfiche Server" service?  If so, this sequence doesn't appear to have resolved our issues.

Correct, I meant the "Laserfiche Server" service.

If the Directory Server is on the same server as the Laserfiche server, it may be worth stopping the Laserfiche Server service, then restarting all the other services, restart IIS website and then turn on the Laserfiche Server service.

Our AD is on another server, but we did restart IIS on our Laserfiche server as well.  Still no luck.  Thank you for your efforts - I'm going to do a support ticket.
