Question

realtime lookup for Document Name - quickfields

asked on August 24, 2017

Hi All

I am working on a QF job that reads a barcode, does a real-time lookup from DB based on barcode value and updates the the template fields.  This is all working as expected.

However, for the document name - I want to name it the results of a value from the lookup - this is not working for some reason.  Please see screenshot - this should work, but it is not.   Any ideas?  I am doing similar in other QF jobs, however missing something it appears.

In the screenshot I want the document name to be the value of the invoiceNo.

Hi Jeff,

That's the intended behavior for when you use a token that references a field value in a document name or path. The %(Fields.______) token is just a placeholder that will be replaced once you store the document away into your repository.

For example, this is how my sample QF session looks in the document revision pane:

After storage, however, it gets named appropriately
