Question

Restrict user access in webaccess

asked on August 24, 2017

We would like to restrict our admin account from having access to LF WebAccess. It would still need access through the LF Client. Is there any way to restrict access to one, but leave access available to the other? We were trying to do this to eliminate any potential issues with changing the admin password all together.

Thanks,

You can blacklist or whitelist users in the Web Access configuration page, but I would suggest having a secure password on the admin account in any event.

As far as I know, Laserfiche permissions do not distinguish between Web/Desktop clients. If you have access to one, you have access in the other assuming you have the correct licensing.

What is the reason you want to restrict access to a specific client? It doesn't really change much as far as what features are accessible, especially considering this is the Admin account.

The admin account basically has access to everything in Laserfiche. In the event that someone was able to "hack" this account or gain access to the password, they would have access to some very confidential information. We just wanted to see if there was a way to restrict it on the WebAccess side before we change the password to something more complex. Only a few people here know what the admin password is, and they only access LF through the desktop client, not the web.
