Quick Fields 10 locks up and closes

asked on August 16, 2017 Show version history

We are having an issue when working in quick fields and manually entering metadata on pages that failed to scan our barcodes, quick fields starts to slow down and eventually kind of locks up and automatically closes. Here is the information I get when I look at the error in the Event Viewer Log

Hello Llarin, I am curious if you have found a resolution to the problem you are seeing?  I have two QF users seeing the same thing as you are seeing.

Nope no resolution yet. Luckily quickfields will open backup and we can continue working but it just does the same thing until we are able to finish. Really weird.

I have actually opted to move my QF users back to 9.1 and all is well, so i guess we will stay there a while longer.

I have observed a memory leak in QF 10.1 that leads to that error at one of my customers. Interacting with the Document revision pane leads to a buildup in RAM which ultimately will cause the error and crash/shutdown QF. Opening a ticket now to see if it can be confirmed by Laserfiche. Sometimes the only issue observed is missing metadata fields in the tasks pane and a slight slowdown. Restarting QF always fixes the issue temporarily.

Hi everyone.

I have a very similar problem. Only after QF has installed it almost instantly crashes and leaves me with a very ugly win32 error which apparently has no fix for it.

No resolutions or answers for me yet either. Closest I have come to fixing the problem is by downloading the hotfix file on LF support portal.

Cheers.

Has this been resolved yet?  I have a client that is experiencing this as well.

Hi everyone,

In our most recent hotfix for QF 10.3 we released some performance enhancements that make the application much faster and more stable.

Specifically, our enhancements should:

1) Prevent QF from slowing down profoundly while opening documents in revision

2) Speed up and stabilize QF when opening documents (especially in the case where the document has many instances of multi-value field groups and/or multi-value fields)

I can't tell if everyone in this thread is having the same issue(s) that we fixed, so let me know if this hotfix improves your installations or if you're still seeing the same behavior
