empty "created by" property. How to modify this entry property?

Is the "created by" property for an entry, mandatory?

I know this is set at document creation time, but we have a good number of documents in a repository, that show this property as empty (no value) so, if this is mandatory, question 1 is in what case(s) it can be empty? question 2 is if anybody has an idea of how this property got emptied and question 3 is if anybody knows how to modify this property.

I learned that this property was not present in Laserfiche until version 7.2. So, that´s right, documents having that property value empty, where created using versions older than 7.2

This is an automatic system property. Are the documents missing the value older? Documents created before the property was added will not posses a value.
